Pellet Stove Battery Backup: Heating With Pellet Stoves in a Power Outage

Your QuadraFire Mt. Vernon AE (Advanced Energy) Pellet Stove can be an important source of heat during a power outage. This video illustrates how to operate the Quadra-Fire Mt. Vernon pellet stove or pellet insert under Battery Backup power.

Please note: we have found that it takes a little more starter gel than is illustrated in this video to start the fire in the pellet stove.

See “How long will the Mt. Vernon operate on battery power?” for more information.

Always be sure to keep your pellet stove’s battery cable and starter gel on hand in case of a power emergency.

Don’t have the QuadraFire Mt. Vernon AE Pellet Stove?

A conventional pellet stove may be operated on power from a separate battery-powered power supply or from a generator.  With a 12-volt battery and a power inverter (to convert the DC power of the battery to the AC power requred by the pellet stove) your stove will be able to run for several hours before requiring a battery change.  Enchanted Fireside carries the SureFire Battery Backup System for our conventional pellet stoves.  If you run your pellet stove through a generator, please be sure to use a surge suppressor, as power from generators is notoriously “spiky.”
