What is a Thermocouple?
A Thermocouple is the temperature sensor that rests over the top of the firepot and covered by a white ceramic sleeve to protect the wire.
If your stove runs for approximately five minutes and shuts off, it is a sign that the thermocouple may not be far enough over the firepot to correctly sense the temperature.
The thermocouple should extend approximately one inch across the top of the firepot, and the tip of the thermocouple wire inside the ceramic cover should be touching the inside end of the ceramic cover.
Although your technician has placed the thermocouple into the correct position on the date of the pellet cleaning, vibrations in the home can sometimes cause it to move, so adjustment during the season may be necessary.
